JF Hull were awarded the contract by TMR in early 2021 to complete the reconfiguration of the Cunningham Highway and New England Highway intersection (Eight Mile Intersection) to incorporate an overpass of the Cunningham Highway for southbound traffic.

The Eight Mile Intersection is a significant crossroad located 8 miles (or 12.87km) north of Warwick, where the Cunningham and New England highways meet. It is a major rural intersection for traffic between Brisbane, Warwick and Toowoomba. The project involved construction for an overpass for motorists travelling south from Toowoomba to Warwick.

Key Features

  • Single lane overpass for traffic on the New England Highway travelling from Toowoomba to Warwick
  • Bridge clearances of 6.1m on the Brisbane- bound carriageway and 7.1m on the Warwick- bound carriageway to provide for over- dimensional vehicles
  • Construction of overpass and earthworks approaches complete with guardrail and lighting
  • Construction of a new Toowoomba to Brisbane slip lane for improved exit from New England Hwy and merge with eastbound on the Cunningham Hwy
