JF Hull was contracted as part of BHA Joint Venture (Bielby Holdings, JF Hull Holdings, Albem Operations) in 2017 by Transport for NSW to construct 23 bridges between Iluka and Broadwater as part of the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade in northern New South Wales.
The bridges & associated earthworks (Portion B/C Sections 8 & 9) were positioned over a mixture of large waterways, environmentally sensitive waterways and floodways.

Scope of Work
The Pacific Highway Upgrade Woolgoolga to Ballina project duplicated 155km of the Pacific Highway to a four-lane divided road and brought major improvements to road conditions.
These improvements provide safer travel, reduced travel times with improved transport efficiency, more consistent and reliable travel and improved amenity for local communities.
Key Features
- Installation of 84 precast abutments and headstock beams
- In-situ reinforced concrete construction (8,700 m3) for substructures including abutments, headstocks and piers.
- Installation of pre-tensioned precast concrete deck units, comprising of 100 super T-girders and 331 winged deck planks.
- In-situ reinforced concrete deck placement and finishing
- Placement of precast parapets (625)
Construction of earthworks for bridge approach fill and gravel pavement layers to each bridge - Completed bridge construction totalling approximately 1,520 linear metres.
